Skin Installation Guide

Skin Installation Guide

Coding Staff skins are pretty easy and quick to install. Please follow steps below for skin installation.

  1. Download skin package, menu theme and images pack. Skin package includes skins and container files; menu theme – is a .zip file that you should use in association with the menu box module; image pack – all images that were used with the skin. This pack is not prerequisite to make site work, but you can still use it for the site to display the pictures used. Please note that image pack is not the same as dnn pack, it contains images only! DNN modules you see on this demo are not packed in this skin. You will need to download them and install separately. Please check www.codingstaff.com for information related to modules.
  2. This skin uses SEO friendly navigation provider - Menu Box; therefore you will need to install it on your portal. Menu Box is a free dnn module, you can download it from here. Please download and install Menu Box module. For more information on how to install and use Menu Box, please check this link. Please make sure you install Menu Box before you install the skin.
  3. Navigate to Admin->Extensions or Host->Extensions and go to Install Extensions Wizard. If you don't have Admin->Extensions Tab, more likely you are using DNN version below 5.0. In this case, please use standard skin installation procedure for your dotnetnuke version. This skin will work for DNN versions below 5.0; however, there might be a need for some minor css tweaks.
  4. Upload skin package and install it via Installation Wizard. You will need to accept a license agreement in order to proceed.
  5. Please take a look on skins that are available within this package. There should be a skin for administration (edit skin), skin for index and a skin for inner pages. Edit skin might be using Menu Box as a skin object; therefore, Menu Box must be installed before edit skin is assigned to any page. All other skins don't have a menu skin object. Menu got to be added as a module.
  6. Assign the skin to a certain page or to entire portal (you can do it via Admin->Site Settings->Appearance). Add Menu Box to Menu Pane. If using the skin for entire portal check "Display Module on all pages" in Menu Box settings.
  7. Click on "Available Skins" link on the Menu Box. Click on "Import New Theme". Upload Menu Theme and click on "Import new Theme". Click on "Make current" button by uploaded theme.

Those simple steps will help you to completely install the skin package.
